Circumstances require that we reluctantly have to sell our Post Office business in Strahan, Tasmania.

This is a thriving 5 day per week 9am to 5pm business located in one of Australia’s premier tourist destinations.

Situated at 13 Esplanade the Post Office is incorporated in a historic heritage listed building, which also houses the offices of the Parks and Wildlife, the Library and the On-line Access Centre.

The Strahan Post Office is leasehold and has operated from this site since 1900. The expansion of tourism and the boom in the mining industry along the West Coast will add to the continual growth of this business.

There is no roadside delivery in Strahan therefore all our customers come to the post office to collect their mail, either from a private box or from the counter. It requires one full-time person and one other during the despatch and sorting of mail and for some periods during the day in the tourist season. Therefore, this makes it an ideal business for a couple.

The business encompasses most of the transactions you would normally associate with a post office including payment of bills, personal and business banking, delivery of mail into PO boxes, money orders, Western Union transactions, etc. We also have a range of phones, stationery, postcards, greeting cards/wrap, an assortment of gifts, books, CDs/DVDs, computer software and souvenirs.

We have recently renewed all the post office boxes, adding a further 32 to the previous 192, bringing the total now to 224, all of which are now let. There is scope for adding additional boxes at a later date.

We also act as agents for the West Coast Council and are paid an annual fee for this service.
